Where is your storefront?
At this time I am a home based business operating under the Texas Cottage Food Law and do not have a storefront. I am located in Spring, TX, near Klein High School.
Do you have an order minimum?
Yes. My minimum pricing on cakes is $100, which will cover most 6in cakes. A minimally decorated 8in. cake starts at $120. For custom sugar cookies my minimum order is 2 dozen, and for cupcakes and soft batch cookies my minimum order is one dozen per flavor.
Do you ever have ready made products I can pick up?
Yes! Often I will have extra cookies and cupcakes, or cake jars on hand while preparing orders or trying new flavors. Usually, I will offer these for sale on social media-single cupcakes or cookies, mini cookie sets, or cupcakes by the dozen/half dozen. How far in advance do I need to order?
In short, as much notice as possible. How much notice depends on what you are ordering and the size of the order. In general, a week or two notice for a cookie order, two days for cupcakes, and *at least* two weeks for a custom cake. Larger and more elaborate orders (Wedding cakes, tiered cakes, bulk orders) will need more notice, while smaller orders (a dozen cupcakes, a single tier cake) can be done on shorter notice. I take a limited amount of orders and can book months in advance, so to avoid disappointment I recommend placing your order as soon as possible! Last minute orders may be subject to a rush fee.
Do you require a deposit/retainer?
Yes. Smaller cookie and cupcake orders (under $100) must be paid for in full at the time the order is placed. Larger cookie and cupcake orders may pay a 50% non refundable retainer to secure the date with the remainder paid in full 2 weeks prior to the event. Cake orders under $150 must be paid in full in order to secure your date. Larger cake orders will require a retainer of 50% with the remainder due no later than two weeks prior to the event, or 4 weeks prior for wedding cakes. In the event of a cancellation, the 50% retainer is non refundable. If the order is canceled less that 10 days prior to the event, the entire amount is non refundable,
Do you deliver?
Yes! I am happy to make deliveries! Delivery fee is based upon distance, travel time, and what is being delivered.
Can I place an order for character/movie themes?
While characters are immensely popular themes for parties, often those characters are copyrighted. Because of this, I do not take orders that would have me replicating copyrighted characters or logos. (for example: Draw Spiderman, a Moana figurine, Superman logo) However, you may purchase (or have me purchase for you) a toy, figure, or cake “kit” of the character and I will gladly make your cake, cupcakes, or cookies match the theme!
Can you replicate the cake/cookies/cupcakes in a photo?
Absolutely show me your photos and let me know what you’re drawn to! I can do my best to come up with a design that you will love-something close to the pictures you bring, but with my own twist!
Do you offer tastings?
Yes! Tasting boxes can be ordered in advance for $35/box. Boxes may be taken to go, or you may choose to schedule a complimentary cake consultation while you sit down and sample your tasting box. If you choose to book your cake with me (and I hope you do!) your tasting fee will be applied to the balance of your cake.
Do you upcharge for wedding cakes?
No, I do not. While the "wedding tax" is widely talked about and is, in some cases, accurate, I personally do not charge more for a cake just because its a wedding cake. Each of my cakes is priced according to flavor, design, number of servings, and my own skill set and level of expertise, not by the type of event.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes! While Cottage Law Bakers are not required to be inspected by the health department or have a food handler's license, I take great pride in my work and strive to be above reproach. I am insured, and am up to date on my food safety certification. I also have many years of experience in restaurant kitchens and am very familiar with health code regulations.
